The violène is a bard instrument constructed by Hendrux from a strand of Falinea's hair.

 

A difficult instrument to master, the violène is used by the bards of Puddleby for some of their most virtuosic compositions. It is played by drawing a bow across the strings made from the tail of Falinea the winged centaur.

 

While it possible to play chords on a violène it is difficult, meaning bards usually throw a few into every composition, just to show off.
