CinderBearThe smallest of the bears, the Cinder Bear is nonetheless the hardiest and most difficult to strike. Unlike most bears, it has short sleek hair, the grey-black colour of which was the inspiration for its name. Cinder Bears have large paws with sickle-shaped claws, excellent for ripping. The naked pads of these paws aid them in climbing. Like all bears, Cinder Bears have small round ears and a short tail. They are primarily nocturnal, but even in the depth of night are the rarest of the bears. They blend in with the dark rocks of the bear caverns, and because of this have often surprised travellers who were not wary or who had trouble seeing in the dark. Their sense of smell is excellent, and they are able to track prey from quite a distance away — generally having intimate knowledge of what they hunt before the unfortunate prey is aware of their existence. Cinder Bears have a widely variable diet, including vertebrate animals as well as eggs, berries, bees' nests, and other natural bounty. Their fur is valuable, and can sometimes be exchanged for upwards of thirty coins. Cinder Bears do not hibernate. |
