Doughnut

Along with beer bread and birthday cake, doughnuts can only be made by exile bakers. Doughnuts are at their best when they come straight out of the oven (or oil, depending on your style of making them). They are often smothered in a variety of garnishes, although the only doughnuts made at the Bakery are ones with chocolate icing - not that anyone is complaining. The shape of this pastry is round with a hole cut out of the middle. The dough that used to comprise the hole is often fried in the same manner as its larger counterpart and is named, originally enough, a "doughnut hole".
