ChampionWoes

Combo Trainers

The least of our woes is the fact that our combo trainers are the actively terrible Erthron or useless Forvyola.

  • Erthron -- Contains a large amount of Detha and half the Atkus that Evus has, when CM is the only real advantage champions have, making it actively terrible and a noob trap for the unwary and ignorant.
  • Forvyola -- We will already get more than enough Histia from Evus while getting accuracy, and the 1.8% bonus makes Swengus just outright superior. And her slaughter used to be* WORSE than training Histia and Regia for the same stats. So she's at best useless and at worst, actively contributing to the champion slaughter problem.

* Theoretically, we do not have tested confirmation that this is true.

Inventory Space:

Let's look at the average fighter's inventory, assuming very low numbers of expendables:

Total: 16 items

Now let's add in Champion items

Total: 12

Now how about a few misc. things:

Total: 4 slots

So as a Champion assuming minimal loadout, you end up with 0 fillable slots for miscellaneous extras.

Atkus and Slaughter?

  • As a Champion you can't really get your accuracy with highly efficient, low-slaughter blade ranks on account of the fell being a soul-crushing nightmare to use.
  • We also don't get any brokenly low slaughter combo trainers.
  • Our stat multiplier affects 1 stat at a time, and has 10% combat uptime, 14 seconds at a time.
  • We could theoretically use the extremely low slaughter Anglisa? + Bloodblade combo, but Bloodmage and Bloodranger are better choices for that.
  • Atkus conservation is REALLY strong, which makes tell? the obvious best weapon, which then also means that we're in the position of paying 'vanilla' ranks and slaughter for our accuracy, then paying 0 stat blade ranks with slaughter to not use it.

So champion slaughter is in general significantly worse than other fighter subclasses, our abilities cost us tags, and our subclass blade costs us tags. Meaning we have to work significantly harder for less. But this isn't even the actual worst thing.

The Final Boss: Endgame Morphs

Long story short, a top end morph is a decade+ time machine for progression. And since we have downtime for healing, in general most rangers will have majority combat uptime with the huge multipliers. Which is why the choice of base Atkus is so important, because the only real niche where a Champion can be competitive is high end defense, on account of there not currently being any top-end critters with Detha. Not to mention that there are high level morphs with absolutely bananas Troilus.

So tl;dr our entire subclass is 1 high CV morphable critter with high Detha from being obsolete, outside of being stonebots. (Which may already exist, i.e. penumbryx)
